Diabetes can be managed through oral medications. In addition to insulin, metformin, which is a sugar-reducing agent, is also a common treatment for diabetes. It is considered a first-line therapy for diabetes treatment and is often added to insulin. It is important to know the risks of taking diabetes medications. Some drugs can be addictive, so you must consult your doctor before taking any medication. Your physician can prescribe you an appropriate treatment plan based on your medical history.

Your doctor will prescribe medication and check your blood glucose levels on a regular basis. Your A1c level will be checked every six months and your cholesterol levels will be tested regularly. Your doctor will also look for any signs of retinopathy, which is damage to the nerves in the eye caused by diabetes. You will also be examined for any foot problems. It is important to see a foot specialist regularly. Your feet should be thoroughly inspected for damage to the nerves.

While the first two types of insulin are the most common treatments, diabetes can be treated in a variety of ways. Your doctor may prescribe medications to control high blood pressure, which can protect the kidneys. Other types of medication include aspirin and other types of anti-platelet drugs. If your doctor is concerned about your blood sugar level, you may need to try a different medication. Some medications can cause side effects. Your treatment will depend on what type of insulin you need.

Grilled Fruit Topped With Sugar

Grilling intensifies the flavor of fruit. Try pears, peaches, or nectarine halves. You can grill them on an outdoor grill or inside on an electric grill or grill pan. Make sure to grease the grill first with non-stick cooking spray to avoid sticking. Top the hot fruit with 2 tablespoons light or sugar-free whipped topping. Two small grilled halves or one large half and whipped topping will be about 15 grams of carbs and 60 calories.

Watch Out With Smoothies And Fruit Juices

When you drink pure fruit juice or a rich fruit-infused smoothie it’s important to limit your intake because of its high natural sugars content. Some juices can be even higher in GI than soda! The best time of day to drink juice is after exercise when blood glucose levels tend to drop rapidly. This may help prevent hypoglycemia symptoms caused by low blood sugar levels.

  • Plan dessert ahead: Take into account how many carbs are in your meal, not just in the dessert, balancing everything out. Perhaps have a carb-free or low-carb main dish followed by dessert.
  • The occasional treat is fine: No need to feel guilty! You don’t have to deprive yourself of sweet foods if you stick to diabetic-friendly desserts.
  • Freeze bite-sized desserts for when you crave something sweet: Little Halloween candy-sized bars are nice from the freezer, or you can freeze small portions of homemade desserts if you’re making a batch.
  • Enjoy fruit: Fruit is of course free from added sugar and it also offers fiber which your body needs. Frozen grapes can be very tasty, or you could freeze banana pieces dipped in melted sugar-free chocolate and grab one if a sweet craving hits.

Frozen Grapes And Frozen Banana Slices

Sometimes the simplest ideas are the most delicious. Frozen grapes end up having a very slushy texture. You can freeze them in an air-tight container or sandwich bag. Bananas should be sliced and laid out flat on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper, then transferred to an airtight container once theyre frozen. One small banana or 17 grapes will give you 60 calories and 15 grams of carbs.

    Strawberry Apple Dessert Risotto

    • 1½ cups apples, skinned and finely diced
    • 3½ cups skimmed milk
    • 1 tablespoon canola oil or butter
    • 1½ cups apple cider
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar blend and packed
    • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

ProcedureIn a bowl, take dried strawberries and add boiling water. Set it aside for 30 40 minutes to soak. By the side, heat milk, pinch of salt and cinnamon stick over a stove or in the microwave until steaming hot but do not let it boil. Remove from the stove top and keep it aside to rest, so that the flavors blend with each other properly. Keep a Dutch oven or a deep sauté pan over a medium flame, and add butter or oil. Add the diced apples and cook it until soft, this will take 1 2 minutes. Now put in the rice while stirring continuously. Add ¾ cup of apple cider and cook till most of the liquid evaporates. Now add the remaining quantity of the cider and cook till slightly dry. Fold the rice gently in the brown sugar. Pour in ½ cup of warm milk mixture and cook for 2 3 minutes until most of the milk is absorbed. Do not mix briskly or the rice will break. Repeat the above procedure with ½ cup of milk at a time until the rice is tender and the risotto has a creamy consistency. At the end remove the pan from the heat and discard the cinnamon stick. Drain the water from the soaked strawberries and then gently stir it into the risotto along with the vanilla extract. Cool it for 10 minutes before serving warm.
